     The novel “The Devil Wears Prada”, by Lauren Weisberger, became a best seller shortly after its publication in  2003. This novel made very prominent use of the name “Runway Magazine”. In the story-line, Runway Magazine is a very high-end international Fashion magazine. 

     Since the publication of the book in 2003 and the subsequent release of the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” (Starring: Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep), in 2006, the name “Runway Magazine” has become very popular in print, audio, movie, and Internet media.

     Currently, there are several commercially available products on the market that are directly related to The Devil Wears Prada. These products are available internationally (in multiple languages) and include: Audiobooks on CD (starting in 2003); Music from the motion picture CDs (starting in 2006); DVD movies (starting in 2006); and a Book Kit (2008).      The popularity of the name Runway Magazine is especially visible on the Internet.  There are many, many:  websites, blogs, discussion groups, forums, etc, and even a Wikipedia webpage, making reference to the name “Runway Magazine. Many of these references are not actually connected to the original novel or motion picture, but are actually related to the branding of independent publications and/or services in the areas of  Art, Fashion and Life-Style.

Interestingly, on June 12, 2011, a Google search for "Runway Magazine" resulted in over 250,000 hits.

     Without a doubt, the first significant contribution to the international popularity of the name “Runway Magazine” was made by Lauren Weisberger.  She featured the name “Runway Magazine” as the name of an international high-end fashion magazine in her novel The Devil Wears Prada”. Since, the novel became an international hit and was later adapted into a highly acclaimed, and very popular, motion picture, world-wide interest in the name “runway magazine” took off.
